Homemade suet steak & onion pudding

Homemade suet steak & onion pudding.
This is a favourite in our home usually I buy Holland’s frozen ones but I bit the bullet & made homemade in the slow cooker it was a huge success.

Pastry:

350g self raising flour
175g beef suet
1/2 teaspoon of salt
250mls cold water

Butter to grease the basin

Rub suet into flour, add salt, Combine with water. Knead a little and leave 1/4 aside for the lid.
Roll out to 1cm thick and add to the basin. Add filling. Roll on the remaining 1/4 and add to the top using a little bit of water to stick.

Filling:

500g steak pieces
1 onion chopped
1 rich beef stock pot cover to just below the meat
2 tablespoons of plain flour
( You can add mushrooms, kidneys or carrots if you choose)

Directions:

Place filling in the pastry lined tin

Wrapped the top of the basin loosely in greaseproof & then a sheet of foil to allow for expansion.

I cooked for 5 hours on high. Filled the slow cooker up to halfway with boiling water. not use tea towel under the lid.
