Country Fried Steak: Making Steps
- Soften the steaks: Take your 2 beef cube steaks and gently bang them with a meat pounder or the back of a spoon. This makes them softer and easier to chew!
- Make your two dipping bowls: Grab two bowls. In the first bowl, mix together 1 cups all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoons salt, 0.5 teaspoons black pepper, 0.5 teaspoons garlic powder, and 0.5 teaspoons paprika. In the second bowl, beat the 2 eggs together with 0.5 cups milk until everything is mixed up nicely.
- Coat the steaks: Take each steak and dip it into the flour bowl first. Then dip it into the egg bowl. Then put it back into the flour bowl one more time and press it down so the coating sticks really well. Do this for both steaks.
- Fry the steaks: Pour 0.5 cups oil for frying into a big pan and turn the heat to medium. When the oil is hot, carefully put the steaks in. Cook them for 3 to 6 minutes

on each side until they look golden brown and crunchy. Take them out and place them on a plate. - Start the gravy: Keep a little bit of the drippings in the same pan. Add 2 tablespoons pan drippings or butter (for gravy) and then stir in 2 tablespoons flour (for gravy). Keep stirring for 1 to 1m 30s

until it turns a light golden color. - Finish the gravy: Slowly pour in 2 cups milk (for gravy) a little at a time, stirring the whole time. Keep going until the gravy gets thick and smooth like cream. Add 1 pinch salt and black pepper (for gravy) to make it taste just right.
- Serve and enjoy!: Pour that yummy gravy right on top of your crispy steaks. Eat it with mashed potatoes, green beans, or toast on the side. Dig in!
Notes
Tips for little chefs and helpers: Ask a grown-up to help with the hot oil — it can splatter! Make sure the oil is hot before adding the steaks so the coating gets nice and crispy. Don’t rush the gravy — keep stirring so it doesn’t get lumpy!
