Cajun Steak Packets Slow Cooker 3-Ingredient

Cajun Steak Packets Slow Cooker 3-Ingredient. My uncle taught me this cool trick for busy school nights. You only need 3 things to make food that tastes really, really good. Just wrap everything up and let the cooker do all the work!

This slow cooker Cajun steak recipe is one of the easiest dinners you will ever make. My uncle showed me how to wrap steak in foil, put it in the slow cooker, and just walk away. While it cooks, your whole house starts to smell warm and yummy. You only need steak, Cajun spice, and butter. That’s it! The steak comes out soft and full of flavor. You serve it right in the foil packet, so there are almost no dishes to wash. Even on a Monday night, dinner feels fun and special.

Serves: 4

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of beef steak (sirloin, flank, or round cut), sliced into thin strips
  • 3 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Cajun Steak Packets: Directions

  1. Get everything ready
Put your slow cooker on the counter. Tear off 4 big pieces of thick aluminum foil. Each piece should be about 12 to 14 inches long. If your foil feels thin, use two layers so the juices don’t drip out.
  2. Season the steak
Use paper towels to pat the steak strips dry. Put the steak in a big bowl. Sprinkle the Cajun seasoning all over it. Mix it with your hands or tongs so every piece gets covered. If you have extra time, let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes so the spice really soaks in.
  3. Split the steak into packets
Lay your foil pieces flat on the counter. Put an equal amount of steak in the middle of each piece. Leave space around the edges so you can fold them up later.
  4. Add the butter
Pour the melted butter over the steak in each packet. Make sure every pile of meat gets some. You can save a tiny bit of butter to drizzle on top of the packets after you close them up — it makes them look shiny and extra yummy.
  5. Close up the packets
Pull the long sides of each foil piece up and fold them together tightly over the steak. Fold the edges down a few times so they stay shut. Then fold up the short ends too. You want each packet to be closed up tight with no holes where the juice can leak out.
  6. Put them in the slow cooker
Place each foil packet into the slow cooker with the folded side facing up. It’s okay to stack them a little if you need to. If you saved some butter, drizzle a tiny bit over the top of each packet.
  7. Cook it low and slow
Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook it on low heat for 4 to 6 hours, or on high heat for 2 to 3 hours. Thin steak will be done faster. Tougher cuts need more time. Do not open the lid while it’s cooking — you’ll let the heat out!
  8. Check if it’s done
Very carefully open one packet — watch out, hot steam will come out! Check a piece of steak. It should be soft and easy to cut with a fork. If it needs more time, fold the packet back up and cook it for 30 more minutes.
  9. Eat and enjoy!
Turn off the slow cooker. Use tongs to move each packet to a plate. Let everyone open their own packet at the table. Peel back the foil and pour all those warm, buttery, spicy juices right over the steak. Pour any extra juice from the packet on top too — that’s where all the best flavor is hiding!
