Slow Cooker Angel Chicken: Tender chicken cooks slowly in a silky, savory sauce made from just five simple ingredients. Just add everything to the pot and walk away. By dinnertime, you get a warm, creamy meal that tastes like you worked hard on it.
Some of the best dinners on a busy weeknight are the ones that seem too easy to be good. This slow cooker meal uses just a few items from your pantry and fridge. It takes almost no prep time, but the taste is rich and cozy. On long workdays, it is a real lifesaver, because I still want something warm and comforting waiting for me at night.
This creamy chicken tastes best when you spoon it over angel hair pasta, egg noodles, mashed potatoes, or soft white rice. That way, every last drop of sauce gets eaten. For sides, I like to keep things easy. Steamed green beans, roasted broccoli, or a fresh green salad all work well. If you want an extra cozy dinner, add a few slices of garlic bread.
Slow Cooker Angel Chicken
Ingredients
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 stick of butter (about 1/2 cup)
- 1 can (10.5 oz) golden mushroom soup
- 1 block (8 oz) cream cheese
- 1 packet dry Italian dressing mix
Directions
- Set up the chicken. Put the chicken breasts at the bottom of your slow cooker. Lay them flat in one even layer so they cook at the same speed.
- Add the other ingredients. Place the whole stick of butter on top of the chicken. Pour the golden mushroom soup over the chicken and spread it out with a spoon. Set the block of cream cheese on top. Then sprinkle the dry Italian dressing mix over everything.
- Cook it slowly. Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on low for 4 to 6 hours, or on high for 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 hours. The chicken is ready when it is cooked all the way through and is soft enough to pull apart with a fork. Try not to lift the lid while it cooks, because the heat will escape.
- Stir the sauce. When the time is up, stir the sauce well until it is smooth and creamy. The melted butter and cream cheese will mix together as you stir. If you like, spoon some extra sauce over the chicken.
- Serve and enjoy. Scoop the chicken and sauce over angel hair pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or egg noodles. Add your favorite side, and dinner is ready.
