What You Need
-
3 to 3½ pounds fresh pork ribs, cut into 3-4 rib pieces
-
1 cup BBQ sauce (pick your fave, any kind)
-
¼ cup soy sauce (normal or low-salt)
-
¼ cup apple cider vinegar
-
¼ cup brown sugar (packed down)
-
1 teaspoon garlic powder
-
Maybe: A pinch of salt and pepper (only if your BBQ sauce is not salty)
Slow Cooker Pork Rib Dinner: Making Steps
-
Put the raw pork ribs flat in the bottom of a big slow cooker (5-7 quarts). They can overlap a bit, but touch the bottom so they cook even.
-
Mix BBQ sauce, soy sauce, vinegar, brown sugar, and garlic powder in a bowl. Stir till sugar melts and it’s smooth. Taste it—if not salty enough, add a tiny bit of salt and pepper.
-
Pour the mix over the ribs. Lift ribs with tongs so sauce gets under them. They don’t need to swim in it—they make their own juice while cooking.
-
Put the lid on. Cook it on LOW flame for 7-8 hours or HIGH flame for 4-5 hours. Meat gets super soft and pulls from bones. Don’t peek early!
-
Move ribs to a plate with tongs. Scoop off extra fat from the cooker juice.
-
For thick sauce, boil the juice in a pot 5-10 minutes till shiny. Or use it runny.
-
Spoon lots of sauce on ribs. Serve hot. Pass extra sauce around!
