Slow Cooker Country Ground Beef

This Slow Cooker Country Ground Beef meal is a simple, down-home dinner that takes just a few basic pantry items and turns them into something warm, rich, and comforting. Using evaporated milk in the crock pot gives the beef and gravy a soft, creamy texture without much effort at all. It’s a great pick for busy days when you want dinner to cook itself while you take care of other things.

Spoon this creamy beef over mashed potatoes, buttery egg noodles, or hot rice so you don’t waste a drop of that rich gravy. A simple side like green beans, sweet corn, or a cool cucumber salad helps balance out the richness of the dish. Warm biscuits are always a great choice too, since they’re perfect for soaking up any extra sauce.

Servings: 4 to 6

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can (12 ounces) evaporated milk
  • 1 packet (1 ounce) brown gravy mix
  • 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup

Slow Cooker Country Ground Beef: Directions

  1. Get the slow cooker ready. If you’d like, lightly coat the inside of your slow cooker with a little cooking spray so nothing sticks. Break the raw ground beef apart into small crumbles and spread it evenly across the bottom of the slow cooker.
  2. Mix the creamy sauce. In a medium mixing bowl, add the evaporated milk, brown gravy mix, and cream of mushroom soup. Whisk everything together well until the mixture looks mostly smooth, with no big lumps of gravy mix left.
  3. Pour it over the beef. Slowly pour the creamy mixture over the ground beef, making sure it spreads out evenly and covers the meat completely. Place the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 to 3 hours. If it’s easy for you, stir the pot once or twice while it cooks. You’ll know it’s ready when the beef is cooked all the way through.
  4. Stir and thicken. Take the lid off and use a spoon to break up any large chunks of beef, stirring well so the sauce mixes evenly and coats all the meat. If you want the gravy a little thicker, leave the lid off for another 10 to 15 minutes before serving so some of the liquid can cook away.
  5. Serve it warm. Spoon the hot, creamy beef mixture over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, warm toast, or fluffy rice, and enjoy right away while it’s nice and hot.
