Brown the beef: Heat a large skillet on medium-high. Cook the ground beef until all the pink color is gone. Drain extra fat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and cook about 5 minutes until the onion looks clear.

Put in the crockpot: Move the cooked beef, onion, and garlic into the crockpot. Put in the chopped potatoes, carrot slices, and celery slices.
