Slow Cooker 5-Ingredient Poor Man’s Steak
Put 3 inexpensive ingredients (raw hamburger patties) and pour the cream of mushroom soup into a slow cooker and the result is a cheap meal that will vanish.

Ingredients

Ground beef
Quantity: 1 1/2 pounds ground beef (80-85% lean)
Note: 80-85% lean keeps the patties juicy while still holding shape.

Condensed cream of mushroom soup
Quantity: 5 (10.5-ounce) condensed cream of mushroom soup.
Note: Creates a rich gravy as it cooks.

Dry onion soup mix
Quantity: 1 (1-ounce) dry onion soup mix.
Note: Adds deep savory flavor and seasoning.

Water
Quantity: 1/2 cup water
Note: Helps thin the soup into a pourable gravy.

INSTRUCTIONS

Prepare the Slow Cooker
In order to prevent sticking, the inside of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker is sprayed with a nonstick solution or a thin layer of oil.
Season the Beef
Add the black pepper to the medium bowl and then add the ground beef and mix them without overworking the meat to ensure that all parts of the pepper are spread all over.
Shape the Patties
Dividing the ground beef into 4 portions, shape each of the portions into a flat, even shaped patty of 1/2 to 3/4 inch in thickness and shape the paddy. This layer helps the patties to cook and be tender.
Layer in Slow Cooker
Lay the uncooked hamburger patties in a single layer on the inside of the bottom of the slow cooker. Nothing wrong with a little of the edges touching though not piling them.
Prepare the Sauce
In a separate bowl, add the condensed cream of mushroom soup, dry onion soup mix and water and stir and blend thoroughly. This will be a heavy mixture rather a pourable gravy than a broth on the plate.
Pour the Sauce
Pour out the soup mixture of cream of mushroom evenly over the uncooked hamburger patties in the slow cooker so that each of the patties is covered so that they can easily braise in the sauce as they cook.

Cook 5-Ingredient Poor Man’s Steak

Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook it on LOW 5 to 6 hours or HIGH 2 1/2 to 3 hours or until the patties are thoroughly cooked (no pink in the center) and extremely soft. The sauce will have diluted sufficiently and make a good gravy.
Adjust Seasoning
Taste the gravy and season it a pinch more pepper or a small sprinkling of salt bearing in mind that the onion soup mix is already a salty preparation.
Serve
Garnish the patties with hot mushroom-onion gravy and place all the starch or vegetables on the plate.
