Whiskey Brown Sugar Chops in the Slow Cooker. Sweet and sticky perfection. This was the secret tip of my uncle with 4 ingredients only and the result was the most tender meat.
Servings: 4
Ingredients
-
4 large bone-in pork chops (approximately 1 to 1½ inches thick, 2 to 2½ pounds in all)
-
1 cup pressed brown sugar (light or dark)
-
1/2 cup whiskey (bourbon or your choice of sipping whiskey)
-
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
Whiskey Brown Sugar Chops: Directions
1. Prepare the Pork Chops
-
Use paper towels to dry the pork chops so the glaze can stick.
-
Spread them in one layer in the bottom of a 4- to 6-quart slow cooker.
-
If they overlap slightly, it is fine; make them as flat as possible for even cooking.
2. Make the Whiskey-Brown Sugar Mix
-
Combine the brown sugar, whiskey, and kosher salt in a small bowl.
-
Stir until it forms a thick syrupy mix.
-
Continue stirring until most of the sugar is moistened and whiskey is evenly mixed.
3. Glaze the Pork Chops
-
Pour the whiskey-brown sugar mix evenly over the pork chops.
-
Let some of the mixture run under the chops.
-
Pour any remaining mixture over the tops to cover each chop thoroughly.
4. Cook the Pork Chops
-
Cover the slow cooker with its lid.
-
Cook on LOW 6–7 hours, or on HIGH 3–4 hours, until very tender.
-
The sauce will be thick, shiny, and a rich amber color.
5. Serve the Pork Chops
-
Lift the chops with tongs or a spatula and place them on a plate or serving dish.
-
Add drippings and melted sugar from the slow cooker to the sauce and stir.
-
Spoon the sticky whiskey-brown sugar glaze generously over each chop.
-
Serve with additional sauce; optionally sprinkle a pinch of salt to balance sweetness.
