Slow cooked unsmoked gammon joint. Wasn’t salty at all & so soft.
Any one wondering what the difference between a gammon joint and ham. It comes from a hind leg of a pig, when gammon is cooked it becomes a ham. Ham is found in shops/supermarkets cooked or dry cured and ready to eat, gammon is not cooked and is not ready to eat. . (But once gammon is cooked it becomes ham).
Recipe:
Trim rind off, & score fat of a Gammon joint cooked in a tin of coke, 3 tablespoon of cider vinegar. add an onion peeled & halved, cook on high for 5 hours.
Mix 3 tablespoon of brown sugar , good dash of Worcestershire sauce, Heaped Tablespoon of wholegrain mustard, a thumb piece of grated fresh ginger in a bowl, pour over the ham & cook in hot oven 20 minutes.
