Teriyaki chicken in a slow cooker. This take-out favorite is a slow cooker that contains diced chicken and brown sugar. Got some diced chicken and brown sugar in the storehouse? You are lucky because this is not a hard dinner to prepare, it is fast and easy to prepare, specifically on the days when you just want to prepare something fast and easy to eat.

The following recipe makes use of household staple ingredients, therefore, it is ideal whenever you happen to have some leftovers of a different recipe and have to do something quickly. The chicken is made juicy and delicious with the addition of the brown sugar which gives it a sweet bite.

What is it you may ask? Oh, prepare to have teriyaki chicken! Some of my favorite Asian food is teriyaki chicken, and I did not even imagine that I could prepare it myself. There is however, nothing much harder than preparing your own Teriyaki chicken which is even better tasting than what you can find at the restaurant with only a slow cooker and some of the items found in your home kitchen!

Ingredients

  • Fresh skinless chicken breasts, boneless and cut into pieces 
    • Quantity: 3 pounds fresh skinless chicken breasts, boneless and cut into pieces. 
  • Low-sodium soy sauce 
    • Quantity: 3/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce 
  • Brown sugar 
    • Quantity: 3/4 cup brown sugar 
  • Rice vinegar 
    • Quantity: 1/3 cup rice vinegar 
  • Garlic 
    • Quantity: 2 garlic cloves, minced 
    • Notes: Minced 
  • Ground ginger 
    • Quantity: 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger 
  • Cornstarch 
    • Quantity: 4 teaspoons cornstarch 
  • Warm water 
    • Quantity: 1/4 cup warm water 
  • Green onion 
    • Quantity: 1/4 cup green onion, finely chopped. 
    • Notes: Finely chopped

  • Pour chopped chicken in the bottom of 4-quarts slow cooker. 
  • Combine soy sauce, sugar, vinegar, garlic and ginger. Pour over chicken. 
  • Cover and cook on low 4-5 hours. 
  • Remove chicken. As your slow cooker is still warm (or still on the warm setting, depending on whether yours has it or not) combine cornstarch with warm water to a smooth paste. 
  • Gradually pour into slow cooker sauce, stirring when pouring. 
  • Place chicken back in slow cooker and stir to cover with sauce. 
  • Eat with rice and your favorite vegetables!
