Slow Cooker Crack Chicken: Instructions
- Prepare the slow cooker: Spray the interior of your slow cooker lightly with non-sticky cooking oil, or brush with a small amount of unbiased oil. This assists in preventing the stickiness of the creamy sauce and simplifies the cleaning process.
- Add the layers: This is done in layers starting with the shredded chicken breast placed in the slow cooker. Through sprinkles, the cubed cream cheese is scattered across the chicken, and the dry ranch seasoning is evenly sprinkled on top of all.
- Begin cooking: Place the lid on top of the slow cooker and cook on LOW or HIGH in 2 to 3 or 1 to 1 1/2 hours respectively. Since the chicken is already cooked you are just warming everything up and letting the flavors combine this time the cream cheese is melting into a creamy sauce.
- Combine: Stir until smooth: When the cream cheese is melted and the mixture is hot and bubbling along the edges, stir everything well. Add a wooden spoon or spatula and mix the chicken and cream cheese till you achieve a cohesive creamy mixture. In case it appears to be a bit thick, loosen it with two or three tablespoons of warm water, milk or chicken broth.
- Add the bacon: Add most of the crumbled bacon, keeping some of it, which to garnish you may do so. Add some taste and a seasoning, you may have no need of extra seasoning, but a turn of black pepper is pleasant.
- Serve: Switch on the slow cooker to WARM to serve. When ready to serve, place the reserved bacon as the top of the crack chicken. Can be served with rice, noodles or in buns, or can be the filling to wraps or baked potatoes.
