Slow Cooker Beef and Baked Beans

Slow Cooker Beef and Baked Beans

This slow cooker beef and baked beans dinner is perfect for those busy nights when you don’t have much time or energy to cook. You just toss everything into the cooker with almost no prep work, and it turns into a warm, filling meal with a sweet and savory taste that feels extra cozy on chilly evenings. It has that classic beef-and-baked-beans comfort food feeling, using simple pantry items to do most of the job for you.

Serve this dish with buttery toast, cornbread, or a light green salad to balance out the rich flavor. You can also spoon it over baked potatoes, or serve it next to coleslaw and steamed green beans if you want to turn it into a bigger, more filling meal.

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cans (28 ounces each) baked beans
  • 1 medium onion, chopped into small pieces
  • 1/2 cup barbecue sauce
  • 1 tablespoon yellow mustard

Slow Cooker Beef and Baked Beans: Directions

  1. Get the slow cooker ready. If you want easier cleanup later, lightly spray or grease the inside of your slow cooker. Add the raw ground beef right into the bottom of the pot, then use a spoon to break it apart into smaller pieces so it can cook evenly.
  2. Add the rest of the ingredients. Scatter the diced onion over the beef in an even layer. Next, pour the baked beans on top so they cover the meat. Add the barbecue sauce and yellow mustard over everything, spreading them out as much as you can.
  3. Mix it all together. Use a large spoon to stir everything well. Make sure the beef gets spread evenly through the beans and sauce, so every bite has a good mix of flavors.
  4. Cover and cook. Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook it on LOW flame for 5 -6 hrs, or on HIGH heat about 3 -4 hrs. If you get the chance, give the mixture a gentle stir once or twice as it cooks. It’s done when the beef is fully cooked through and the whole mixture is hot, thick, and bubbly.
  5. Taste and serve. Before serving, taste the mixture and add a little more barbecue sauce or mustard if you’d like more flavor. Once you’re happy with the taste, spoon it into bowls and serve it while it’s nice and hot.
