Ingredients

  • 1 frozen beef roast (chuck), about 3 to 4 pounds

  • 1 can apple pie filling (20–21 ounces)

  • 1 cup barbecue sauce

  • 1 packet onion soup mix (about 1 ounce)

  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar

Slow Cooker Apple BBQ Beef: Directions

  1. Put the frozen beef chuck roast in the slow cooker.

  2. Spoon the apple pie filling over the roast.

  3. Add the barbecue sauce, sprinkle the onion soup mix on top, and pour the apple cider vinegar over everything.

  4. Cover the slow cooker. Cook on low for 8–10 hours or on high for 5–6 hours, until the beef is very soft and can be pulled apart easily.

  5. Shred the beef with two forks while it is still in the slow cooker. Stir so the meat is covered in sauce.

  6. Let the beef sit for 10 minutes so the flavors settle.

  7. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, rice, or on buns with extra sauce if you like.
