Slow Cooker Amish Butter Beef

Slow Cooker Amish Butter Beef

Slow cooker Amish butter beef is a simple, easy dinner that works great for busy weeknights when you don’t have much time to cook. All you need is a beef round roast, some butter, ranch seasoning, and au jus mix, and it turns into a soft, tasty roast that makes its own rich gravy while it cooks. This kind of roast is loved by many because it only uses basic pantry items, and the slow cooker does all the real work. That’s what makes it a meal you can throw together without much thinking at all.

Serve this soft, juicy beef over mashed potatoes, egg noodles, or steamed rice so you can soak up all that buttery sauce. It also goes nicely with plain green beans, roasted carrots, a fresh side salad, or warm dinner rolls. If you have leftovers, try piling the shredded beef onto toasted sandwich buns with a spoonful of the sauce on top.

This easy slow cooker beef recipe turns a simple roast into a soft, buttery dinner using just four pantry ingredients. Ranch seasoning and au jus mix add rich flavor while the beef slowly cooks until it falls apart. It’s a no-fuss, comforting meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights with little effort needed.

Servings: 6 to 8

Ingredients

  • 3 to 4 pound beef round roast
  • 1 packet ranch seasoning mix (about 1 ounce)
  • 1 packet au jus gravy mix (about 1 ounce)
  • 1/2 cup cold butter, cut into small pats

Slow Cooker Amish Butter Beef: Directions

  1. Add the roast. Set the beef round roast right into the bottom of your slow cooker. Try to place it so it sits flat and fits comfortably inside the pot.
  2. Season the meat. Open the packet of ranch seasoning mix and the packet of au jus mix, then sprinkle both evenly over the top of the roast. Make sure the seasoning covers the whole surface of the meat so every bite gets flavor.
  3. Top with butter. Take your cold butter and cut it into small flat pats. Lay these pats evenly across the top of the seasoned roast, spacing them out so the butter can melt and spread as it cooks.
  4. Cook low and slow. Put the lid on your slow cooker. Cook the roast on LOW for 8 to 10 hours, or on HIGH for 5 to 6 hours. The beef is done when it turns very soft and pulls apart easily with just a fork.
  5. Shred and serve. Once the beef is fully cooked, use two forks to shred it apart, or slice it into thick pieces if you prefer. Spoon some of the buttery juices from the bottom of the slow cooker over the meat before you serve it, so it stays moist and full of flavor.
