Those golden cloudy cubes you see in the pot? They are just frozen chicken broth that slowly melt down into a warm, tasty sauce. This dish is great for a cool rainy day at home, but it is also easy enough to bring to a get-together or share with friends who stop by after watching a game.

Ingredients
- 3 pounds raw chicken drumettes
- 2 cups chicken broth, frozen into golden cubes (about 4 to 6 ice cubes worth)
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 and 1/2 teaspoons garlic powder)
Remembrance Drumettes Slow Cooker
Remembrance Drumettes: Directions
- Put the frozen golden broth cubes into the bottom of a 5 to 6 quart slow cooker. Spread them out as flat as you can so they melt down nicely while the chicken cooks.
- Place the raw chicken drumettes right on top of the broth cubes. Try to lay them out in one mostly even layer. It is okay if a few pieces touch or overlap a little.
- In a small bowl or cup, mix together the honey, soy sauce, and minced garlic. Stir until the honey blends in and the mix looks smooth and shiny.
- Pour the honey and soy sauce mix all over the chicken. Try to cover as many pieces as you can. Do not stir anything — just let the sauce drip down between the chicken and into the broth cubes below.
- Put the lid on the slow cooker. Cook on LOW for 4 to 5 hours, or on HIGH for 2 and 1/2 to 3 hours. The chicken is ready when it is very soft and the meat comes off the bone with ease. The broth cubes will melt into a rich golden sauce as everything cooks.
- When the chicken is fully cooked, gently stir the pieces around in the sauce so they are all nicely coated. If you want the sauce to be a little thicker, take the lid off and cook on HIGH for another 15 to 20 minutes. Stir once or twice while it cooks down.
- Give the sauce a quick taste. If you want it a little saltier, add a small splash of soy sauce. If you want it a little sweeter, drizzle in a bit more honey. Serve the drumettes hot and spoon lots of that golden sauce on top.
How to Serve
Serve these soft, saucy drumettes over hot white rice, buttered egg noodles, or creamy mashed potatoes so they soak up all that good golden sauce. For a simple side, try steamed green beans, a fresh salad, or roasted asparagus to add something light and green to the plate. If you are feeding a big group, keep the slow cooker on warm and set out some rolls or small buns so people can make little chicken sandwiches. A bowl of fruit salad or some sliced watermelon on the side turns this into a really nice easy summer dinner.
