Pork with Apples and Onions Slow Cooker

Pork with Apples and Onions Slow Cooker. My neighbor shared this yummy dish with me, and I right away wanted the recipe. Just 4 simple things make super soft meat and sweet fruit.

Tender pork chops cook low and slow with sweet apple slices, tasty onion layers, and fruity juice in your slow cooker. It turns into a cozy meal with soft fruit and meat that falls off the bone. Easy for busy days—minimal prep, big flavor. Kids love the sweet taste! Perfect family dinner.

Ingredients

  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1 inch thick (2 to 2½ pounds all together)

  • 2 big apples, cored and cut thin (about 4 cups)

  • 2 medium yellow onions, cut thin (about 3 cups)

  • 1 cup apple juice or cider

Pork with Apples and Onions: Directions

  1. Spray the slow cooker inside with cooking spray or rub with a bit of oil. This makes cleanup easy (you can skip it).

  2. Put onion slices flat on the bottom like a soft bed for the pork.

  3. Add apple slices in a flat layer over the onions.

  4. Place pork chops on top of the apples and onions. Push them down a little so they’re mostly covered.

  5. Pour apple juice or cider all over the pork and fruit. Let the liquid touch the bottom for even cooking.

  6. Put on the lid. Cook on LOW 6-8 hours or HIGH 3-4 hours until pork is super soft and pulls from the bone easy.

  7. Taste the sauce. Add a tiny bit of salt and pepper if you like (not extra ingredients).

  8. To eat, lift pork out with a spoon or spatula. Spoon lots of soft apples, onions, and juices on top. Serve hot right from the pot.

Fun Changes & Tips
For picky kids, peel apples so they melt into sauce better, and chop onions small. Try boneless pork chops or thick slices from a pork loin roast—watch time since it cooks faster.

Kids want it sweeter? Pick Gala or Fuji apples and use cider not juice. For pretty brown pork, sear chops 2-3 minutes each side in a pan first.

Want thick sauce? Take out some apples and onions, smash with a fork into juices, mix back in. Leftovers rock—shred pork for sandwiches on buttered bread or rolls with toppings.
