Oven-Baked Amish Goulash: Directions
-
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Put a little butter or cooking spray in a 9×13-inch baking dish so the food does not stick.
-
Spread the uncooked elbow macaroni in an even layer on the bottom of the baking dish.
-
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until no pink remains. Drain any extra grease.
-
Sprinkle the cooked, drained beef over the macaroni in the baking dish.
-
In a bowl, mix the stewed tomatoes (with juice) and the condensed cream of tomato soup until combined.
-
Pour the tomato mixture slowly and evenly over the macaroni and beef, making sure the pasta is wet. Tap the dish gently so the liquid settles around the noodles.
-
Cover the dish tightly with aluminum foil to hold in steam.
-
Bake for 45–55 minutes, until the pasta is soft and the sauce is bubbling at the edges. Add 5–10 more minutes if needed.
-
Remove the foil carefully, stir gently, and let the goulash rest for about 5 minutes before serving so the sauce thickens.
