Garlic Butter Chicken Noodles: Directions
-
Your slow cooker crock should be put on a stable surface, which a clean beige countertop will be. Put the diced raw chicken evenly at the bottom of the slow cooker.
-
Melt the butter in a small saucepan or a microwave-safe bowl and be careful not to burn it. Add in the minced garlic until it is well spread throughout the butter.
-
Pour the melted butter with the garlic into the slow cooker with the raw diced chicken in a slow drizzle, taking care not to leave out even one piece of the chicken. This initial stage smokes the chicken and gives it that smoky Amish flavor of butter.
-
Add chicken broth to the chicken with the butter. The idea is to stir it gently enough to get all the chicken down into the liquid, and still maintain most of the butter and garlic mixed throughout.
-
Close the lid of the slow cooker. Bake on LOW 4-5 hours, or on HIGH 2-2 1/2 hours, until the chicken is very tender and cooked through. Stir it gently once or twice as it cooks, should you be close by.
-
As soon as the chicken is cooked, take off the lid and taste the broth, sprinkling it with a pinch of salt and black pepper, should you desire, remembering the plain, delicate Amish-like flavoring.
-
Add the uncooked egg noodles, pushing the noodles down into the hot broth and chicken until it is largely covered by the broth. When the noodles are not fully covered, sprinkle in a little more broth or water.
-
Cover the slow cooker once again and cook on HIGH between 20-30 minutes, stirring it half way through, until the egg noodles get tender and not mushy and have absorbed some of the buttery garlic broth.
-
After you cook the noodles to your preference, give it a final stir to loosen any noodle clumps and to mix the chicken, butter and the noodles. Hot and right out of the slow cooker when the noodles are tender and the broth is smooth.
