Fried Green Tomatoes: Directions
-
Wash the tomatoes and cut them into even 1/4-inch thick slices.
-
Put cornmeal, flour, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder in a bowl and mix well.
-
In a separate bowl, mix the eggs well. Then add the milk and stir it together.
-
Dip each tomato slice first into the egg mixture, then coat it in the cornmeal mixture, pressing gently so the coating sticks.
-
Pour about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil into a skillet and heat it over medium heat until warm.
-
Fry the tomato slices in small batches so they cook evenly, about 2–3 minutes per side, until golden brown.
-
Move the fried slices to a plate lined with paper towels to soak up extra oil.
-
Arrange the fried green tomatoes on a serving plate and serve with a small bowl of ranch dressing for dipping.
