Ingredients
- 1 large head of cabbage
- 1 lb ground beef
- ½ lb ground pork
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 small onion, cut into tiny pieces
- 2 cloves garlic, chopped up small
- 1 egg
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 1 can diced tomatoes
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Stuffed Cabbage Rolls: Directions
- Fill a big pot with water and bring it to a boil. Peel off the cabbage leaves one by one and drop them in the hot water for about 2 to 3 minutes until they get soft. Take them out, drain the water, and let the leaves cool down.
- Grab a big bowl and mix together the ground beef, ground pork, cooked rice, chopped onion, garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir everything together really well until it all comes together nicely.
- Put a big spoonful of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf. Roll it up tight like a little burrito, folding in the sides so nothing falls out.
- Pour a little bit of tomato sauce on the bottom of your baking dish so the rolls don’t stick. Then place all your cabbage rolls in the dish with the folded side facing down.
- In another bowl, stir together the rest of the tomato sauce, the diced tomatoes, Worcestershire sauce, and brown sugar. Pour this yummy sauce all over the top of the cabbage rolls.
- Cover the dish tightly with foil and put it in the oven at 375°F (190°C). Let it bake for one full hour until everything is soft, hot, and bubbling.
- When they’re done, spoon some extra sauce from the dish over the top of the rolls before you serve them. Enjoy!
