Beef and Onion Stew Slow Cooker
Beef and Onion Stew: Directions
-
Put the slow cooker pot on a flat, heat-safe spot like a clean tile counter. Make sure it’s clean and dry.
-
Add beef pieces to the bottom in a flat layer. Break up big lumps so they spread out loose.
-
Peel onions. Cut each one in half from the bottom to the top, then cut it into thin slices. Use clean, dry hands to drop slices over the beef. Spread them loose to cover the meat like a blanket. Onions go on top.
-
In a small bowl or cup, mix beef broth (or water and cube) with Worcestershire sauce. Stir till cube mostly melts if using one.
-
Pour liquid evenly over onions and beef. Don’t mix—keep onions on top so they melt into the meat while cooking.
-
Put on the lid. Cook on LOW 8-10 hours, or HIGH 4-5 hours, till beef is super soft and onions mix into broth.
-
Taste the broth. Add salt and pepper if needed. Stir gently.
-
Serve beef and onions in wide bowls with lots of onion broth on top. If too soupy, use a spoon with holes or boil liquid on stove a bit to thicken.
