Amish Kielbasa Potatoes Slow Cooker

Amish Kielbasa Potatoes Slow Cooker

Amish Kielbasa Potatoes Slow Cooker. Add sliced kielbasa to a slow cooker with a combination of 3 simple ingredients and uncooked baby potatoes, and the time it takes is less than what happens during a typical weeknight dinner.

Servings: 4

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds small baby potatoes, rinsed and whole (cut in half in case they are large)

  • 1 1/2 pound smoked kielbasa sausage, cut in 1/2-inch round slices.

  • 4 Tablespoons unsalted butter in small pieces.

  • 1 pkg (approximately 1 ounce) dry onion soup mix.

  • 1/2 cup low-sodium chicken broth

Amish Kielbasa Potatoes: Directions

  1. Put the uncooked baby potatoes in a single layer in the bottom of a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker. In case some of the potatoes are bigger than a golf ball, cut them into half so that they cook at the same pace.

  2. Sprinkle the sliced kielbasa uniformly on the raw potatoes making sure the rounds drop down in between the open spaces so as to have everything curled up.

  3. Evenly sprinkle the kielbasa and the potatoes with the dry onion soup mixture to ensure that the seasoning is evenly spread.

  4. Sprinkle the top with the bits of butter and place them at a distance on the surface to melt and to baste the potatoes and the sausage when cooking.

  5. Pour the chicken broth in the edges of the slow cooker, attempting to leave all the seasoning remaining on top. You prefer to have the surface of the bottom covered with a shallow amount of liquid to aid in the cooking process of the potatoes and to make a rich, buttery broth.

  6. Top the slow cooker with the lid and cook on LOW between 6 and 7 hours or on HIGH between 3 and 4 hours until the potatoes are extremely tender when a fork is inserted in them and the kielbasa is hot and juicy.

  7. After cooking, stir carefully at the bottom to cover the kielbasa and potatoes with the oniony buttery juices. Add and add a pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper when necessary.

  8. Spoon hot out of the slow cooker, carelessly pouring a lot of the pan juices over each serving.
