Amish Green Bean Beef: Instructions
-
Prepare 5–6 quart slow cooker, place it on the counter and take off the lid. Evenly distribute the raw ground beef and sprinkle it over the bottom of the slow cooker to ensure that it forms a uniform layer by gently breaking it up with clean hands or a spoon.
-
Sprinkle the onion, which has been chopped onto the raw ground beef. This allows the onion to cook into the meat in its slow summation of the browning process and keeps everything wet and tasty.
-
Whisk the condensed cream of mushroom soup and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl until smooth to a large extent. This will make a fast, hearty sauce which will coats the beef and green beans as they will be cooked.
-
Add evenly the mixture of the soup and Worcestershire over the ground beef and onions in the slow cooker. Do not stir, the bottom of the beef will ensure that it cooks through safely and evenly.
-
Open the cans of green beans and empty the liquid. Still in the layered state, pouring the drained canned green beans on the top of the covered with sauce beef and onions, and spreading them into a uniform layer. Again, avoid stirring, this will preserve the beans against overcooking, and maintain their texture.
-
Salt and black pepper may be sprinkled. Put the lid of the slow cooker.
-
Bake on LOW 6–7 hours or bake on HIGH 3–4 hours, or until the ground beef is cooked through and there is no pink left in the center. Halfway through cooking, you can use a spoon to gently push the beef down so all the meat touches the hot surface. Do not push it hard. but not to stir the meat intensively until it is cooked.
-
When the beef is finished cooking, a large spoon is used to chop the beef and stir everything together gently folding the green beans and the sauce into the beef. Taste the food and add more salt and pepper if needed.
-
Serve it hot in bowls, or put it on top of mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice. Place the remaining in the refrigerator in an airtight container, storage can last up to 3 days; warm up in the stovetop or under the microwave with some water to loosen the sauce.
