How to Make Amish Golden Roast
-
Put the raw beef roast in a big slow cooker (5-7 quarts). Face the fatty side up so it keeps the meat juicy.
-
Shake the dry onion soup mix all over the top and sides of the roast.
-
Mix the golden mushroom soup with beef broth (or water) in a bowl. Stir a little—it doesn’t have to be perfect.
-
Pour the soup mix over the roast like a cozy blanket. Cover the meat well.
-
Drop butter bits on top, spread out nice.
-
Put the lid on. Cook on LOW 8-10 hours or HIGH 4-5 hours, till meat falls apart easy with a fork.
-
Take roast out. Shred or cut it on a plate. Throw away big fat bits if you want.
-
Stir the gravy in the cooker till smooth. Add salt or pepper if it needs more taste.
-
Spoon lots of gravy over the meat. Yum!
Serve over mashed potatoes, noodles, or rice. Add veggies like green beans and bread to sop up the sauce.
