Savory Round Steak Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient. My grandma made this yummy dish every Sunday. It uses just 4 easy ingredients for a warm, hearty meal that slices super soft like butter.

This easy slow cooker round steak takes me back to Grandma’s cozy farm kitchen. After church, she’d start it, and soon the house filled with smells of onions, mushrooms, and soft beef. It’s a simple home-style meal from the Midwest with round steak, onion soup mix, mushroom soup, and fresh mushrooms. They cook slow to make a thick, creamy gravy that soaks into the meat till it’s buttery tender. Perfect for a filling dinner without slaving over the stove.

Tender round steak in rich gravy, slow-cooked with mushrooms and onions for ultimate comfort. Just 4 ingredients yield fork-tender beef that melts in your mouth, ideal for lazy Sundays over mashed potatoes or rice. Family favorite in under 10 minutes prep!

Savory Round Steak Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient

Servings: 6

Ingredients

  • 2 to 2½ pounds beef round steak, about ¾-inch thick, trimmed and cut into big pieces

  • 2 (10.5-ounce) cans cream of mushroom soup

  • 1 (1-ounce) packet dry onion soup mix

  • 8 ounces fresh button mushrooms, cleaned and sliced

Savory Round Steak: Directions

  1. Put steak pieces on a cutting board. Trim off big, tough fat or gristle. Cut into sizes that fit your slow cooker.

  2. In a bowl, mix mushroom soup and onion soup mix well. It gets thick and light brown.

  3. Spread a thin layer of this mix on the bottom of a 5- to 6-quart slow cooker.

  4. Add steak pieces in a single layer. Overlap a bit if needed, but don’t crowd.

  5. Sprinkle sliced mushrooms on top, tucking some around the sides.

  6. Pour rest of soup mix over everything. Spread to cover meat mostly. Skip water—the meat and mushrooms make juicy gravy.

  7. Cover and cook on LOW 7-8 hours till steak is super soft and pulls apart easy. Or HIGH 3½-4 hours if rushed, but low is best.

  8. Stir gravy gently to mix in any fat and loosen bits from sides. Taste and add tiny bit of salt or pepper only if needed—soup mix is salty.

  9. Serve hot with lots of gravy on top.

Pair with mashed potatoes, buttered noodles, or rice to soak up gravy. Add corn, green beans, or salad. Use warm rolls or bread to mop up every drop. End with applesauce or pound cake for old-time fun.
