Salisbury Steak Slow Cooker Yummy. A School Lunch Favorite You Can Make at Home
My husband says this tastes even better than the food we used to get in the school cafeteria! With just four simple things you probably have in your kitchen right now, you can make a dinner that feels like a warm hug. It reminds everyone of those good old school days, but tastes way better because you made it with love at home.
What You Need (Makes 6 People Happy)
- 2 pounds of ground beef (the kind that’s not too fatty)
- 1 box of beef-flavored stuffing mix (the dry kind, not cooked yet)
- 2 cans of cream of mushroom soup
- 1 packet of brown gravy mix
How to Make Salisbury Steak Slow Cooker
Step 1: Mix Your Meat Pour the ground beef into a big bowl. Sprinkle the dry stuffing mix all over it. Use your clean hands to mix everything together gently. You want the stuffing mixed in, but don’t squish the meat too much or it gets tough.
Step 2: Make the Patties Take handfuls of the meat and shape them into oval shapes, kind of like little footballs. Make about 8 to 10 patties depending on how big you want them. Each one should be about as thick as your thumb. Press them together firmly so they don’t fall apart.
Step 3: Put Them in the Slow Cooker Spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray if you want (it helps with cleaning). Lay your meat patties flat in the bottom in one layer. It’s okay if they touch a little bit, but don’t stack them on top of each other like pancakes.
Step 4: Make the Gravy Sauce In another bowl, mix together both cans of mushroom soup and the brown gravy packet. Add half a cup of water and stir it really well so there are no lumpy bits. This makes a yummy, smooth sauce.
Step 5: Pour on the Sauce Pour all that gravy mixture over your meat patties. Make sure every patty gets some sauce on top. Use a spoon to help the sauce get between the patties.
Step 6: Cook It Put the lid on and set it to LOW for 5 to 6 hours, or HIGH for 2 and a half to 3 hours. The meat should be super soft and cooked all the way through. The gravy will get thick and shiny and look really good.
Step 7: Serve It Up Use a wide spatula to carefully lift out the meat patties because they’ll be really soft. Put them on a plate or in a serving dish. Pour all that yummy gravy on top. Add a tiny pinch of salt or pepper if you want, but it probably tastes just right already.
Step 8: Eat and Enjoy Serve it hot with your favorite sides like mashed potatoes or green beans. Make sure everyone gets plenty of that delicious gravy!
