Amish-Style Apricot Chicken Slow Cooker 4-Ingredient. Yummy Apricot Chicken That Everyone Loves… A No-Fuss Dinner That’s Sweet and Tasty

Imagine a meal so easy that you just dump a few things together and let your slow cooker do all the work. This apricot chicken is one of those magic recipes that makes your whole house smell amazing while you’re busy doing other stuff. When dinner time comes, everyone gathers around because they know it’s going to taste really good. It’s the kind of food that grandmas and families have been making for a long time—simple, yummy, and makes people happy!

What You Need (Makes 4 Servings)

  • 3 to 3 1/2 pounds of chicken drumsticks (about 8 to 10 pieces—you can leave the skin on or take it off)
  • 1 cup of apricot jam from a jar (the kind you find in the grocery store)
  • 1/2 cup of red salad dressing from a bottle (like ranch or Thousand Island)
  • 1 packet of dry onion soup mix (the kind you sprinkle on things)

Let’s Make Amish-Style Apricot Chicken

Step 1: Put the Chicken In Lay all your chicken drumsticks in the bottom of your slow cooker. Try to make them fit in one layer, but it’s okay if some pieces sit on top of each other a little bit.

Step 2: Mix the Sauce In a bowl, put the apricot jam, the red salad dressing, and the dry onion soup mix. Stir it all together really well until it looks smooth and creamy. The powder from the soup mix should spread out evenly. This will be thick like pudding and easy to spoon.

Step 3: Cover the Chicken Spoon this yummy sauce all over your chicken pieces. Try to cover each drumstick as much as you can. Use the back of your spoon to spread it around so the tops look nice and coated.

Step 4: Cook It Put the lid on your slow cooker. Cook it on LOW for 5 to 6 hours, or on HIGH for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. The chicken is done when it’s super soft and falls off the bone. The sauce will get thinner because the chicken lets out juice as it cooks.

Step 5: Taste and Fix It Up When it’s done, take a tiny taste of the sauce. If you want it sweeter, add a little more jam. If you want it tangier, add a splash more dressing. If you want the sauce thicker, you can take off the lid and cook it on HIGH for 15 to 20 more minutes so some of the liquid dries up.

Step 6: Serve It Up Put the chicken drumsticks in bowls or on plates and pour lots of that sweet apricot sauce over them. If there’s extra sauce, put it in a little bowl so people can add more if they want!
