Sweet & Sour Sausage and Pineapple Slow Cooker.
This simple slow cooker dish brings together smoky sausage and juicy pineapple in a yummy sweet-and-sour sauce. Just toss everything in and let it cook! It’s great for busy nights or fun get-togethers. Spoon it over rice or noodles, and don’t worry — even picky eaters will ask for more. Leftovers taste amazing the next day too!
🧅 Ingredients
- 2 pounds of smoked kielbasa or Polish sausage, cut into small round pieces (about half an inch thick)
- 1 can (20 ounces) of pineapple chunks with all the juice inside — don’t drain it!
- 1 cup of sweet-and-sour sauce from a bottle
- ½ cup of ketchup
📋 Directions: Sweet & Sour Sausage and Pineapple
- Lay the sausage slices flat on the bottom of your slow cooker (4 to 6 quarts works great). Try to spread them out nice and even.
- Open up the pineapple can and pour everything in — the chunks AND all the juice — right on top of the sausage.
- In a small bowl, mix the sweet-and-sour sauce and ketchup together. Stir them until they look smooth and mixed well.
- Pour that sauce mix over the sausage and pineapple. Use a spoon or spatula to scrape the bowl clean so none of the mixture goes to waste.
- Give everything one or two gentle stirs so the sausage and pineapple get covered in sauce. Be careful not to splash!
- Put the lid on. Cook it on LOW flame for 4 to 5 hrs, or on high heatfor 2 to 2½ hours. You’ll know it’s ready when everything is hot and the sauce is bubbling.
- Take a little taste of the sauce. Want it a bit more tangy? Add a small squeeze of ketchup. If the sauce feels too thick, pour in a tiny splash of pineapple juice or water and stir.
- Switch the slow cooker to WARM. Gently stir it all together, then spoon the sausage and pineapple over fluffy white rice, buttered egg noodles, or into a big bowl.
- Hosting a party? Keep it on WARM and put some toothpicks nearby so people can grab pieces easy. Got leftovers? They’re super tasty tucked into soft rolls or warmed up over rice the next day!
