Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 1-2 cloves garlic, minced

  • Seasonings (e.g. chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, pepper, onion powder, garlic powder, etc.)

  • Extra ingredients: tomato paste, water, cheese sauce, black beans, spinach, diced tomatoes

For assembly:

  • Tortillas (burrito or medium size made of flour)

  • Grated cheese (i.e. cheddar, mozzarella)

  • You can also ask for extra toppings like sour cream, lettuce, tomatoes, hot sauce, and green onions.

Ground Beef Tortilla Wraps: Instructions

  1. Prepare the Ground Beef – Cook the ground beef in a huge skillet at medium-high heat, separating it with a spatula until it is completely free of pink.

  2. Drain the Fat – Pour out the extra fat from the pan.

  3. Cook Onion and Garlic – Put the sliced onion and minced garlic into the skillet and cook until softened.

  4. Add Seasonings – Add your preferred seasonings and any other additions such as tomato paste or water, and mix thoroughly.

  5. Prepare the Tortillas – Heat the tortillas to make them easier to fold. Wrap in foil and heat in the oven, microwave briefly, or warm in a dry skillet.

  6. Put a warm tortilla on a flat surface to start making the wrap. Heat a layer of cheese sauce (if available) or place a layer of the cooked beef mixture in the center.

  7. Add Cheese and Toppings – Sprinkle with shredded cheese and any other fillings or toppings such as spring onions, diced tomatoes, or sour cream.

  8. Fold and Finish – Roll the sides of the tortilla inwards, then roll it up to form a sealed wrap.

  9. Brown the Wraps – Cook the wraps in a skillet with a small amount of butter or oil until golden and crispy on each side, or heat in the oven until warmed through and cheese melted.
